A project for the restoration of a prestigious building in the heart of Turin, Piazza San Carlo.

The proposal consisted of reworking the spaces built originally for the Turin nobility, with vast circulation spaces, and very high ceilings into a modern all-suites hotel in which the grandeur of the original propotions found a corresponding interest and use in its new role. The design remit was to organise the overall sequence of spaces, particularly the public and circulation spaces. The latter were made more dynamic with the introduction of a vertical void and the huge central corridors were used to house important art works owned by the clients. The roof top restaurant and spa represented the natural conclusion of the circulation sequence. This has a spectacular view of the hills beyond the city's edge made available by movable platforms on the exterior terraces.

The scheme came to an end as a result of difficulties in negotiations with the Turin town council (the owner of the building).
