Hotel in Pescara 2004

This sketch project consisted in taking an existing, ugly, but well sited hotel (built in the '70s outside Pescara), gutting it extending it and making a new one, utilising only the supporting structure in reinforced concrete from the original building. In plan the central corridor leads to a series of rooms varying in size according to the disposition of the separating roller blind-screens. In elevation these roller blinds in horizontal are developed according to the sinusoidal geometry seen in the plan in which greater or lesser areas of the room can be opened up to the surrounding landcape.
